Metronomy at The Barbican (Bicycle Film Festival) - 14/10

So Metronomy have just announced two UK dates (London and Brighton) and I don't think anybody is more excited than us/me. We will be in attendance at the London gig which marks the opening of the 10th Annual Bicycle Film Festival (more on that later) at the Barbican on the 14th October. There will be a full review of the gig on the blog and we will no doubt discuss the night in detail on the live show, so stay tuned.

What is the Bicycle Film Festival? Yeah, I had no idea either, apparently it's a celebration of the bicycle through art, music and film. Sounds good to me, it runs from the 14th to 17th October at the Barbican. Showcasing many new bicycle related films including a BMX tribute produced by the legendary Spike Jonze.

I look forward to seeing many of you at the gig, I should also mention Sbtrkt are DJing plus the Gallops are performing, I have no idea who the Gallops are but I will listen to them at some stage, from what I've heard of Sbtrkt they ain't bad.

I will leave you with my favourite bicycle related song and if that's not enough I've only gone and put a link to one of my favourite Metronomy remixes (its also vaguely cycling related).

Four Tet's Plastic People Mix CD.

Well hopefully everyone is surviving without their weekly guide to electronic music, but fear not, we are returning to the airwaves on the 21st January, same time 8-9pm.

In the mean time; London born electronic musician Kieran Hebden aka Four Tet recently finished his residency at the famed Plastic People. In celebration he gave away a free mix cd to everyone who attended the final night, unfortunately I wasn't able to make it, however the few nights I did attend were excellent, each one as refreshingly eclectic as the last.

I've acquired a copy of the mix which certainly doesn't disappoint, available for download below.

Four Tet is playing Fabric on the 22nd January with many others including friend of the show Erol Alkan.

His new album; "There is Love in You" is out on the 26th January.

Maharasingham's Musings...

My 14 year old cousin has recently started his own blog, he wishes me to promote it for him. It is perhaps the greatest thing to happen to the internet since this video:

So for insightful and humorous commentaries on the biggest issues of the day check out Maharasingham's Musings (click here).
